Simpkins whitetail leaping wildlife collectible statue gift Simpkins White Tail Leaping Statue
$95.00
This beautiful White Tail Deer Statue is 13" x 12.25" x 6". It makes a great gift for that deer hunter. The deer's coat is a reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. The deer can be recognized by the characteristic white underside to its tail, which it shows as a signal of alarm by raising the tail during escape. The male (also known as a buck) usually weighs from 130 to 220 pounds (60 to 100 kg) but, in rare cases, animals in excess of 350 pounds (160 kg) have been recorded. The female (doe) usually weighs from 90 to 130 pounds (40 to 60 kg), but some can weigh as much as 165 to 175 pounds (75 or 80 kg). Males one year of age or older have antlers. Bucks with very small antlers, about 3 in (7 cm) or less, are often termed "button bucks". Some may even have their antler pedicles hidden in the hair and can be mistaken for a doe. Antlers begin to grow in late spring, covered with a highly vascularised tissue known as velvet. Bucks either have a typical or non-typical antler arrangement. Typical antlers are symmetrical on both sides and the points grow straight up off the main beam. Non-typical antlers are asymmetrical and the points may project at any angle from the main beam. These descriptions are not the only limitations for typical and atypical antler arrangement. The Boone and Crockett or Pope & Young scoring systems also define relative degrees of typicality and atypicality by procedures to measure what proportion of the antlers are asymmetrical. Therefore, bucks with only slight asymmetry will often be scored as "typical". A buck's inside spread can be any where from 3–25 in (8–64 cm). Bucks shed their antlers when all females have been bred, from late December to February.

Simpkins Whitetail Snow wildlife collectible statue gift Simpkins White Tail Deer in the Snow Statue
$95.00
This beautiful white tail buck is running on the rocks with snow. It stands 10" x 9.5" x 6.25". Hunting Tip: If you own the land where you hunt or it is ok with the land owner, then you can try this idea. Deer like to feel hidden but they also like to travel routes that are not thick and brushy. Try clearing out a few "trails" in your hunting area. The trails you make don't have to be real wide, but wide enough that deer can easily use them. Make sure the trail is mostly covered with dirt so that you can see if deer are using the trails and where they are using them the most. Also make sure that the trails don't end, but rather loop back or connect into other existing deer trails. You might try placing some kind of attractant like corn, wheat, minerals or some scent on these trails to keep the deer coming back. (Check to see if baiting is legal in your area). This procedure has worked for me and I'm sure it will work for you(whitetails.com).

Simpkins Charging Whitetail wildlife collectible statue gift Simpkins Charging Whitetail Deer Statue Collectible
$180.00
An amazing statue. It really has to be seen to be believed. The detail on this statue of two Whitetails fighting is incredible. This statue stands 13.5" x 22.25" x 9.25". The male deer is called a buck. Bucks are easy to identify in the summer and fall because they grow a set of antlers (also called a rack) each year. The rack is made of bone and has points, called tines. Many tines on a buck's rack tell us that the deer is healthy and lives in a good habitat. A buck's antlers reach full growth in the fall. You may see a buck rubbing his antlers on a tree in early fall to get rid of the soft velvet that protected his new antlers. As the buck rubs off the velvet, the antlers will become ivory-colored at the tips. In the winter, bucks shed their antlers.
During the mating season, also called the "rut," bucks fight for territory and the privilege of mating with the most female deer. Bucks will crash antlers to claim this territory. They don't usually get hurt during the fights. A buck will also mark his territory by stomping on the ground to make "scrapes" on the land and rubbing his antlers on trees, called a "buck rub."

Simpkins Whitetail Standing wildlife collectible statue gift Simpkins Whitetail Buck Standing Statue Collectible
$95.00
A whitetail deer standing 11" x 10" x 5.5". This beautiful Whitetail buck seems to be looking right at you. This is the perfect gift for a that deer hunter in your life. Bow or Gun. Wisconsin is recognized as one of the premier deer hunting states in the nation as Wisconsin is home to a thriving deer herd. Wildlife habitat changes during the past century due to farming, logging, and urban expansion have led to the evolution of new method for managing our deer populations in an attempt to control their numbers under a wide array of habitats and social conditions.
Wildlife biologists in Wisconsin have developed population models for deer. The model depends on information gathered primarily from the hunters themselves. Such information includes the actual number of deer harvested annually, and the sex and age of each animal. When applied to a specific geographical "unit," it is possible for biologists to accurately estimate the number of deer living in that unit. They can then estimate the numbers that may be harvested to keep populations at healthy levels that are socially acceptable to both hunters and nonhunters alike(dnr.state.wi.us).

A source of pride for Wisconsin's citizens and the state's official wild mammal, whitetails provide many forms of enjoyment to Wisconsin citizens from wildlife watchers to hunters. Hunting Tip: Practice pacing off when you are out target practicing during the summer. While standing at your target, take your arrows and throw them in various places around you. Pace off the distance to each arrow and practice shooting from that spot. Try far quartering shots and close broadside shots and vice versa. If you can be accurate from these areas on the first few shots of practicing, you will be effective during the season. But the biggest thing is to know your yardage and how far your target is at all times. That's where pacing off on every shot will come in handy(whitetails.com).

Deer Hunting Tip from Whitetails.com: Always carry more than one call. If the grunt call isn't working try using a softer or deeper tone than you have been using or switch to a fawn bleat. It also doesn't hurt to have the rattling antlers ready. No one sound will attract all deer. So find a call that the buck you're after will respond to. It's important to understand exactly why deer choose to travel through funnel areas. To begin with, a funnel is usually the easiest or most convenient path for deer to follow as they move from point A to point B. This does not always mean that it is the fastest or most direct route, though. For example, if a deer wants to travel from its bedding area on one side of a ridge to a food plot on the other side, it probably won't walk straight up and over the ridge, even though that would be the quickest and straightest route. Instead, the deer most likely will find the easiest path, while also being careful not to compromise its safety. In most cases, this means skirting around the peak and traveling through a saddle or bench on its way to the other side.

The white-tailed deer lives in wooded areas. In some areas, deer overpopulation is a problem. Gray wolves and mountain lions used to be predators of the white-tailed deer and helped keep their population under control. But because of hunting and human development, there are not very many wolves and mountain lions left in some parts of North America.
White-tailed DeerSometimes a bobcat or a coyote will kill a young deer, but people and dogs are now the deer's main predator. Because there are not many natural predators, deer populations can sometimes grow too large for their environment and deer can starve to death. In rural areas, hunters help control deer populations, but in suburban and urban areas hunting is often not allowed and deer populations can grow out of control.
White-tailed DeerOther things can change deer populations. Disease and parasites like lice, mites and roundworms can weaken or kill deer. Young deer and old deer often get sick and die, especially in the winter. Winter is a dangerous time for deer. Their long narrow legs and pointed hooves make it hard for them to move around in the snow and ice and it is easier for predators like dogs to catch them.
White-tailed Deer and people are living closer to each other because of human development and growth in deer and human populations. Because humans and deer often share a habitat, there can be problems for both of them. When a deer's habitat becomes smaller because of human development, deer will often eat food from gardens. Deer need to cross roads to look for food and water and are sometimes struck by cars. People can also catch a sickness called Lyme Disease from the deer tick(nhptv.org).
